My skin healing journey | OMMA's Inception Story

I am honored and grateful you are here, discovering and supporting OMMA right from the humble beginnings of its journey. I want to share with you how OMMA was created and how my skin journey has led to its inception. I hope the products we carefully create will help you as much as they helped me.

This is our pledge – helping you bring out your inner beauty and letting it be seen through your skin, hence, more than skincare.

OMMA is not just another skincare brand, its story roots deeply into my life and was created as a pinnacle of my healing journey, with the love and support of my husband and partner.

I’ve had skin issues for as long as I can remember: atypical atopic dermatitis ever since I was 5, which stuck with me all my life, body and face acne, skin-picking disorder, severe itching and rashes flare ups, dry skin… It took me years to finally discover the deep root cause of my skin issues and to find the right products that would finally help me heal and stop those flare ups from ever appearing again.

OMMA represents the change love can have on your skin, in all its forms.

From feeling the love of your partner who supports you when you’re at your lowest, the love of a good friend who understands why you may be distant sometimes and encourages you to overcome your suffering, or the love you have for yourself, your body, your skin, just the way it is – understanding that it’s protecting you the way it knows best.

My husband is the rational part of this business, I’m here with my heart, my story, my emotions. Together we hope we will make the perfect blend and succeed in giving you the best skincare products that are not only effective through the way they are formulated but will also bear the positive energy of my healing and love for all of you who may go through similar skin journeys that I have been through.

Ever since I was little, I’ve had problems with my skin in different forms. It all started at around 5 years old, with an atopic dermatitis that was very unusual even for doctors. I’ve been to dozens of doctors, went through multiple tests, and everything showed that my dermatitis was very atypical and non-responsive to traditional medication. I had zero allergies but still, from time to time I would get terrible flare ups in many areas of my body. The cause was unknown.

"Stress? What stress?! She's just a child!"

The first “Aha!” moment was at a doctor’s appointment I went with my parents, when I was about 8 years old. That’s when the doctor simply told my parents that my skin condition is mainly due to stress. That’s when my father had an outburst, screaming “What stress?! She’s just a child. She has nothing to worry about.”.

I just stood there thinking “Well, finally the doctor sees me.” All those fights, the emotionally toxic environment I lived in, it’s not something a child should see. I just absorbed everything, my parents’ worries, fury, screaming…and then it all showed up on my skin. The inner sadness simply manifested externally.

...the first step I took towards my skin healing journey.

I remember this moment vividly even today, because later in my life it turned out to be the first step I took towards my skin healing journey.

Later in my life I stared struggling with body acne which left scars on my body. Combined with my skin-picking disorder, which usually made my pimple worse, my skin bears the marks of all the suffering I went through because I externalized it this way.

My face, though now finally clear with the help of everything I learned so far, has some of the final marks of my struggles in the form of small ice-pick scars.

It took me years to finally discover the deep root cause of my skin issues, which was my mind and thoughts. The way my body reacted to emotional stress was to extract the fury from the inside and deliver it outside, on my skin.

The emotional cause of skin problems

One of the major discoveries that helped me was the book of Jacques Martel - The Complete Dictionary of Ailments and Diseases. I strongly recommend you have this book in your house and check any of the diseases or symptoms you may experience. It will give you the root emotional cause of any disease and they’re on point every time.

Your skin’s condition is in a close relation with the way you relate do other people in your life.

Your skin covers your entire body and delimitates what is on the “inside” from the “outside”. It is a protective layer that lets transpire, although unconscious, your inner state. Your skin’s condition is in a close relation with the way you relate do other people in your life. Your skin is like an extension of your feelings, of your inner sensibility.

If you’re an empath or a highly sensitive person, your skin will be sensitive as well. If you’re severe towards yourself or towards others, your skin will be dry and tough. If your skin is irritated, it means there is something or someone in your life who irritates you. A severe uncertainty you may feel will make your skin sweat too much.

Skin diseases generally show you have some problems with the way you communicate with others.

You feel like your individuality is analyzed, that your intimacy and vulnerability can be threatened. What is your limit? What is it you can and cannot tolerate? Separation can cause eczema or psoriasis, and it caused by repressed anger and lack of love or attention. Overall, the quality of your relationships with the people around you and your inner emotional state will reflect on your skin.

Acne’s emotional cause has to do with individuality and the equilibrium inside you, the way you relate to external events. Acne is the visible expression of your irritation, self-criticism, resentment, fear or shame and uncertainty towards yourself or others, a non-acceptance of your own being.

Accept and love yourself and stop trying to please others at all costs.

The solution is to accept with all your heart, the changes inside you, respect your basic needs of any kind, in a healthy and natural way. Let your heart be your guide and, if needed, create some healthy boundaries with the people in your life. Accept and love yourself and stop trying to please others at all costs. Be open and let people approach you in safety.

I strongly recommend you check out Jacques Martel’s book. It changed my life and I’m sure it will help you too. Healing is not just one way; you must work on both your emotional and physical states to be fully healed.

The physical aspects of my healing journey

Working on your emotional side is crucial, but for a complete healing process, the physical aspects should be treated as well. That is what I did. I just wished I had discovered these amazing skincare products sooner, as they would have helped me avoid acne scarring, but everything happens for a reason, and maybe if I discovered them sooner, OMMA probably wouldn’t have been created and we couldn’t have helped others as well.

The reason we launched OMMA with just the WOW patches is that hydrocolloidal patches made a huge difference on my skin healing journey. I have tried dozens of different hydrocolloidal patches, and although some were better than others, with OMMA we wanted to create the perfect acne patch. We decided to combine the power of hydrocolloid with some extremely efficient active ingredients, and this is how the perfect acne patches were created.

Next on our list is to launch an innovative microcrystal roller infused with powerful anti-aging and scar-reducing ingredients. This is perfect for taking care of your skin after your pimples have healed.

The plan is to create a complete skincare product line inspired by the amazing products and ingredients that helped be on my skin healing journey. Being passionate about herbalism and the power of plants, OMMA will also encapsulate these principles and combine the innovative Korean skincare technologies with the power of active ingredients derived from plants such as Calendula or Artemisia (mugwort), to name just a couple of the plant extract that saved my skin.

This was a glimpse into my skincare healing journey which led to the idea my husband had to create OMMA.

Thank you again for your support. It means the world to us and it will help us grow OMMA and deliver you the products that will change your skincare routine forever.
